Q2 What are some of your most memorable experiences?
My fondest memories of LHS always revert back to "Rag Day" - especially my freshman year when our team won first place for the "Mumbo Jumbo" elephant act. What fun! Of course, after school lime cokes at the City Dairy, cruising Workman's Wigwam, football games and drill squad are among my high school memories. My favorite class was Chemistry, and I dreaded going to shorthand and Latin. As much as I disliked my business classes, I ended up teaching business for over 20 years!
Q3 What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?
I love to travel and for the past few years have made trips to Puerto Vallarta every Spring and Fall to visit Stacia and for R & R. I am hoping to spend more time in Mexico when I retire. I enjoy working with miniatures, which has been my hobby since 1976. I am active in the local miniature club and continue to create wonderful "tiny" master pieces. I have an English Springer Spaniel, Ginger, and a long-haired black cat, Gracie. I enjoy hiking, especially in the old growth forest of Oregon and to waterfalls. I also love beachcombing and camping on the Oregon Coast.
Q4 What are some of the major changes in your life?
I graduated from CSU, 1965, taught business in Telluride, CO for two years; taught Business in Aurora, CO for four years; taught Business at Barnes Business College, Denver, CO for eleven years. I have worked for the Early Education Program in Eugene since 1999, and I am still working!
I married Jack Scott December 21, 1968. We built our own house in Evergreen, CO. We lived there for 21 years and raised two children, Chris and Stacia. We moved to Eugene, OR, 1993. We enjoy traveling and spending time with our children and granddaughter.
Our son, Chris, is a woodworker and a single dad of Lillie, age 5. She is our only grandchild. She is the light of our lives and spoiled rotten. Our daughter, Stacia, lives in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where she teaches English in a private school and also in an after school program for extremely disadvantaged children. She is single and has no children.
Personal narrative 2011:
I, probably like most of you, have a "bucket list" - things to do before I am too old! Fortunately, I am in good health, and I am very active. I have already done a few crazy things that were on my list: On my 65th birthday I got a tattoo - totally out of my box!! At 66 I did 14 zip lines through the Mexican jungle - pretty good for me, as I am afraid of heights. Still left to be done - spend more time in Mexico; visit the Mediterranean countries, preferably on a cruise, and whatever other wonderful things that may lie ahead.
I am so sad that I will miss the grand 50th reunion. My family will be celebrating my husband's 70th birthday and my Dad's 94th birthday the same weekend as the reunion. I look forward to receiving the booklet, and please know that I will be there in spirit!
My best to all of my LHS Classmates - perhaps we will cross paths again.
