Q1 What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with modern technology?
I enjoy the flexibility of digital cameras and computer photoshop. The social networks leave me a bit weary and reluctant to participate. Cell phones are nice but it’s enough for me if it just makes a call. I am trying to keep up but it’s a constant struggle, Frustrated at work with a keyboard that had some stuck keys, I sprayed it with WD-40 and sure enough the new one worked just great.
Q2 What are some of your most memorable experiences?
CU Parties, East Berlin 1964.Teaching skiing in Heavenly Valley South Lake Tahoe, Viet Nam, Meeting my wife in Aspen, Walking through the jungle at night in Costa Rica. Sunrise in the village of Gokyo, Khumbu, Nepal; A lightning storm in Chicago Basin San Juan Mountains. Working on the reintroduction of lynx into Colo; Polar Bears in Churchill Manitoba, tropical depression 'Klaus' St Lucia, Crashing my motorcycle on Cottonwood Pass. Living in a small Mayan fishing village in the Yucatan for several months for several years.
Q3 What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?
Travel, photography, golf.
Q4 What are some of the major changes in your life?
I retired and then three years later dumped a motorcycle and as a result lost part of a lung. It made me quit skiing, a life long activity, and limits some of my activitites. No problem, I am lucky to be alive and thankful for the life that I have.
Personal narrative 2011:
I have had a great life since leaving Loveland, not that my life wasn't great in Loveland. I went to CU, partied, graduated, ended up in US Navy in /Viet Nam for two years, came back, went to grad school on the GI Bill and received a Masters in Public Administration of Natural Resources. Worked for Colorado Division of Wildlife for 29 years, mostly in Carbondale and Glenwood Springs, but with five years in Denver at the Denver Office. Retired in 1999 have traveled a lot, visiting over 150 countries. I have been married to my lovely wife Ingrid who has kept me confused and laughing for about 40 years.
