Q1 What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with
modern technology?
Positive: It's wonderful to take care of finances and personal business
on line. Limited shopping in Carlsbad and considerable distance to larger
cities has necessitated online shopping, which I love! I buy clothes, shoes,
lots of things -- even my hair spray!
I received an iPad
from my son this Christmas
-- what a fantastic creation!
Negative ... I truly dislike e-mails involving religion and politics and the cute
junk that wastes my time.
Also, negative is how much time can dissipate--you get trapped – taking care of
a few little things ends up taking a couple hours.
Q2 What
are some of your most memorable experiences?
Gene and I've been fortunate to have some wonderful travel experiences.
In October 2006 three amazing weeks in China. September 2007 two weeks in Russia. December 2009 two amazing weeks in Egypt. April
of this year we spent 3 weeks in Holland, Belgium and France. We're now looking forward to adding
another memorable experience, a Smithsonian trip to Peru (Machu Pichu and the Amazon) in
September. That departure date is Monday after the Reunion so I can't attend.
Q3 What
fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?
I have two small Maltese dogs nearing 3 years of age. The last half of
2009 we spent months training them to become therapy dogs. Every Wednesday in 2010
we visited a local nursing home; in addition, we visited the hospital every
Sunday afternoon last summer. A busy schedule has made us retire this year.
Bunko -- I recruited a group of 12 friends when we moved to Carlsbad and once a
month we meet for lunch and a fun game of Bunko at one of our homes.
I've served two years on the Board of the Carlsbad Horticulture Society at the New Mexico Living Desert Zoo
& Gardens State Park located just a few blocks from us.
Both Gene and I love landscaping and gardening and we truly enjoy the yard we've
been able to create here and the fantastic climate here.
Q4 What
are some of the major changes in your life?
What could be more major changing than getting older? How did we all get here
so fast?
Personal narrative 2011:
I'm
sorry to miss our 50th Reunion. As mentioned above, months ago we
scheduled a Smithsonian Tour to Peru and our departure date from DFW is September 19, 2011,
a bit of a conflict.
My best wishes to each of you and have a wonderful 50th!
