Q1 What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with modern technology?
I have resisted some of the advances made in technology in the past fifty years. When taking a class in computers the instructor tried teaching programming and I was still struggling with the onbutton. Bah Humbug! Later, the ease in using spread sheets at work convinced me one value of computers and consequently I learned more invaluable uses. Plus, I couldn’t live without email.
Who needs 500 channels on the TV?
Using a cell phone is still not a priority for me; although I have one I use it only for emergencies. How can one’s voice said on an instrument the size of a credit card be sent across the country?
I’m waiting for the technology that creates medical nanobots that will enter my body and clean out my lungs and heart so I can do all the things I did fifty years ago (Maybe not ALL the things I did).
Q2 What are some of your most memorable experiences?
My most memorable experiences involve my daughter/son-in-law and granddaughters sports, boys, marriage, graduations, traveling, camping. The girls are now 21 and 24 years old and have both graduated from college. Where did the time go?
My 30 years teaching and the years spent as President of the Teacher’s Association has led to both positive and negative memories along with much stress.
Having cancer changed my outlook on life.
Q3 What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?
Dont know whether playing bridge would be considered an activity or a hobby but I spend many days sitting at a card table. I belong to various marathons and groups and play duplicate bridge twice a month.
Gambling in Black Hawk and Las Vegas is fun and also pays the bills.
Traveling to the beaches of Mexico allows me quality time with my family.
Q4 What are some of the major changes in your life?
Many changes in my life are probably similar to changes you all have lived through death of husband, death of parents, retirement, children and grandchildren grown, memory slipping, health slipping, stomach sagging.
What hasn’t changed is my zest for life and never ending hope for a better future for everyone. (I mean this, Im not just running for a political office.)
Personal narrative 2011 Although I lived in Loveland for only four years I have many wonderful memories of our high school days - lasting friendships, parties, tears, first taste of beer, a broken heart, stimulating classes (not very many), dates, secrets, driving around looking for boys, wigwam, rag day and, of course, graduation.
Thanks to all who put this reunion together.
