Q1 What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with modern technology?
Since I am technologically inept, most of my experiences are negative. For example: When we first got a DVD player and watched a movie, I inquired about rewinding it at the end. That should give you an idea of my ineptness, although I can somewhat use a computer and have finally figured how to make the "clicker" work for Xfinity.
Q2 What are some of your most memorable experiences?
I decided to take a little trip down memory lane for my memorable experiences. I spent a year in England while in college and traveled in western Europe. Ask me about the New Year's Eve train trip in 1962 or smuggling cognac across an international border in Spring, 1963.
My involvement in the political arena led to many memorable occasions. I have photographs taken with President Clinton and Vice President Gore.
I was also a voting delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1992 and that is a once in a lifetime event.
I am listed in three separate Who's Who in America publications. That is one of those eye openers when you get the letter saying you have been nominated for inclusion.
Q3 What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?
One of the most enjoyable activities I have at the present time is going to my 12-year old granddaughter's softball games. She is turning into a pretty good pitcher.
I love to garden outside and work with potted plants in the house. Reading is, and always has been, one of my great loves. I collect Star Trek memorabilia and Charming Tails figurines.
After living in an all male household where a movie was rated by the body count and things that exploded, it has been delightful to be able to watch "chick flicks" with my granddaughter when she visits us.
Q4 What are some of the major changes in your life?
The most dramatic change in my life has been not being able to travel. I take care of my 94-year old father's needs and have to be available in case of emergencies. That limits me to day trips or an occasional weekend event.
Personal narrative 2011 As I look back over the 50 years since graduating from Loveland High, I am pleased to say that the good times far outnumber the bad ones. I believe that to be a true measure of a successful life along with the good friends I have made and the interesting experiences I have had. It has been a fun journey with a great husband and children and grandchildren who have far exceeded my hopes and dreams for them.
I would also like take this opportunity to say how much fun it has been to serve on the class reunion committees and get better acquainted with some of my classmates. The Friday Night Committee has been a blast!
