Narrative:

My adventures began right after graduation in '61 when Eldon Kern and I set off on a road trip to see whatever we could of the western Untied States.  We spent most of that summer in California and it was there that I found a beautiful new college called Foothill in Los Altos Hills near Palo Alto and Stanford.  After spending a few years there acquiring an AA degree, the military came calling with places like Fort Polk, LA; Fort Sill, OK; and Fort Chaffee, AK.  I finally completed Officer Candidate School at Fort Belvior, VA in the Army Corp of Engineers.  Then it was Fort Benning, GA and Fort Campbell, KY with the 101st Airborne ... and yes, I jumped out of airplanes.  Vietnam was my next destination with R&R's in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Sidney.  I didn't have it all that bad so I decided to stay there a little longer, be promoted to Captain, and take advantage of a 45-day trip around the world to such places as London, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Oslo, Tel Aviv, Bombay, and Bangkok.

After 5 years in the Army, I returned to college at CSU and got a degree in fine art.  During that time I had the opportunity to spend a summer in Vienna, Austria and travel around a lot of Europe.

I met my wife, of 34 years, at a nightclub in Loveland and we have lived here ever since.  She was teaching school at Loveland High and I started a career at Hewlett Packard as a photographer and graphic designer.

We both enjoy art, photography, and traveling and this lead to putting together small group tours that we have escorted mainly to Europe.  Switzerland has been one of our favorite countries not only for its beauty, but ease of traveling around using local transportation.  This last spring (2005), we took six others to Sicily and southern Italy, making it about 15 tours we've escorted.  This June (2006), however, we are off on someone else's tour to China and Tibet.

The only other thing I do reasonably well is bowling.  I've been in leagues for over 25 years and was the first person to ever bowl an 800 series in Loveland.  I made the Loveland Bowling Hall of Fame with my 300's and other high scoring achievements.  This has also lead to more traveling as I've bowled in national tournaments around this country in places like Reno, Salt Lake City, Corpus Christi, among many others.

But after traveling in about 50 foreign countries and 49 of our 50 states, it is always good to come home to Loveland.  I hope to see as many classmates as possible at our September reunion.  It's been great fun at our planning meetings.  I now work as the transportation manager for Loveland Good Samaritan, so if you're in the area, stop by and say hi.  -- Ron
