Q1    What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with modern technology?

I enjoy being connected to friends and family and the immediacy of it.  However, I'm happy to have a Mac friendly husband and son to help me when problems occur.

Q2    What are some of your most memorable experiences?

As I look back growing up in Loveland, I realize what a special time and place it was.  I remember the halcyon days of playing outside in the neighborhood, only to be called in for dinner at dusk.  I remember being able to ride our bikes out to the "country" and seeing the difference between city life and country life just a bike ride away.  I remember "exploring" our main street, daring each other to go up the stairs of some of the seedy hotels to see what was up there.  We were blessed to live in more innocent times where we got pleasure in simple things and didn't fear as much as children do today.

Q3    What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?

Perry and I have enjoyed being retired since 2005:  he from Raytheon and I from over 30 years of teaching high school English.  We are experiencing our lovely beach area as if for the first time, like tourists in our own town.  We also spend time each year in Palm Springs and occasionally travel to more distant places.  We are planning a Mediterranean cruise to celebrate our 30th anniversary next year.  I belong to a couple women's groups that are mostly for fun and female support, something I appreciate more as I grow older.  I'm still an avid reader and enjoy searching for "collectables."  I also occasionally substitute teach just to keep me on my toes.

Q4    What are some of the major changes in your life?

One major change is that both of my parents (who were not part of my younger life) are now relying on me somewhat in their elder years.  My mother lives alone in her home in Santa Barbara and my father in a senior living facility close to my home.  They are both in fairly good health, so it is a rather belated treat to have them in my life at this stage.  Our adult children live close by as well.  We have no grandchildren yet, but I always say I had my own grandchild (my younger son who just turned 25).
