I DO authorize sharing all of this information on the Class of 1961 Web Site.

Q1    What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with modern technology?

There are many positives to having all the modern technology like the microwaves, cell phones, GPS, computers and digital cameras.  I could not get by without the microwave or my cell phone. If I leave home without my phone it is like instant panic. Of course, when I bought it my grandkids had to show me how to use it.  They are totally shocked when they get a text message from me.  I have to make sure everything is spelled correctly and punctuated which is really not the point of texting.  (Old habits are hard to break)  The GPS is one of my favorite things because I can get any place when I need too.  (With luck I may even be able to find the reunion)

Q2    What are some of your most memorable experiences?

Moving to Loveland in 1957 and going to high school at LHS.  Of course, the best was being a part of the "Class of 1961 - the class that was never-never outdone".  I made some of the best friends in the world and I still am able to see them and work on all the reunions.  I always tell my children and grandchildren how lucky we were to grow up in the 50's and 60's, and I wish they could have had that same experience. (Nothing better than those times)  I remember the fun times on Halloween in downtown Loveland and going to the farmers fields to help ourselves to his pumpkins and nearly getting caught; painting the water tower with '61; slumber parties with strolls through the Loveland Cemetery at midnight; Yvonne and I getting my parents newly painted Buick stuck in the mud till it was coming in the doors and I was to be at her house studying.  Also I will never forget taking Darla's parents Thunderbird for a little spin and returning with her Dad standing in the driveway. (Pretty scary)  I could go on and on as I start to write things down, but the book committee would not appreciate me.

Q3    What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?

I enjoy playing golf, bowling, antique shows, estate sales and garage sales.  I am very involved with the Philo Club being on the golf tournament committee; Co-chairman of the yearly fundraiser; helping with the blood drives and canned food drive around the holidays.  Of course, being on the reunion committee during this past year has been a lot of fun.  I also enjoy going to my grandchildren’s wrestling matches, football games, volleyball games, basketball games, golf tournaments and cheerleading competition.  Needless to say I keep very busy.

Q4    What are some of the major changes in your life?

I retired in January 2007 after working for the Macerich Company for 20 years.  I soon discovered that being retired doesn't pay very well.  I decided it would be in my best interest to get a part time job so I work 11 -25 hours a week for Hobby Lobby.  It is fun and I enjoy the interaction with other people. (I am not quite ready for the rocking chair.)  I am very fortunate to have my son Philo, his wife Leighsa and my grandchildren Philo, VI (16), Haleigh (13) and Conner (12) living in Johnstown.  My daughter Candace, her husband Brian and my grandchildren Austin (13) and Baylee (10) live about 5 minutes from me.  My brother Dick and his wife Lezlee live in Lodge Pole, Nebraska.  My children and grandchildren are the highlights of my life.  Like everyone else there have been good times and very sad times but that makes us who we are, but I have been very blessed starting with the best parents in the world.

Personal narrative 2011       I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.  I would like to take this opportunity to tell the reunion committee how much fun it has been working with all of you.  I look forward to each and every meeting and I will miss it when we are finished.  As I drive down West 4th Street past the school it makes me want to go back 50 years and live it all over again. WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE!!!!!
