Q1    What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with modern technology?

In the "positive area", I think becoming used to having new gadgets to constantly improve our communications and personal availability. With the constant changes and improvements it provides, however, the reference is that how we did things yesterday were not very efficient which in some respects 'not as fast' is a bit of a hit. It has made me remain flexible in my approach to different situations.

Negative area is when any of the "things" don't work such as the remote, cell, or electronics or car malfunction. Even though it is usually operator error it still becomes a point of aggravation.

You know how "spoiled" you have become when the power goes off for awhile.

Q2    What are some of your most memorable experiences?

Living in Loveland and the friends, times, and relationships from this setting.

Graduating from college, getting married in college to Kathy, going on to have four different careers, and more education, and living, and working in some of the neat places across the USA. All in all having a "good run" and still married and having fun with our life.

At this point in time, being semi-retired, I pick and choose the different consulting activities whether it is executive contract search, operations, financial, or business strategy assistance to client companies.

Memorable... each day and time is memorable and there is not just one.

Q3    What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?

We have four horses that require a bit of support and attention and this gets me out of bed to make sure all is well. This is a good activity.

My Grandson, at age 6, is probably one of my biggest hobbies. Having him about is a test and a joy. Have to keep it in perspective and when I have him around backhoe, skid loader, or four wheelers he is careful and attentive. We have fun and I am amazed at his energy level. (This is when you notice the extra miles on the frame.)

I do "radical jeeping" in Moab and Silverton and it keeps me on my driving edge. Still fun and have some great friends who I "run" with.

Have an out building full of car projects for restoration that should require another two, or three lifetimes.

We bought a new (to us) Airstream and are planning trips to Alaska and other locations. In the winter am planning some warm area excursions. Should be exciting and interesting.

Q4    What are some of the major changes in your life?

I would have to say constantly adjusting, and trying to have "my brain" understands that my body or physical abilities are not up to where they were 30 years ago.  Constant battle.

Having the good fortune of having some of the best medical talent about on the Western Slope when I had my heart attack with subsequent surgery. This was a shock and they did a fine job. All turned out well and walked away.

Adjusting to the fact that you are here for a bit, having parents and friends leave, and understanding it is now in "your court" and the game is still in play so had better do what you can to enjoy it and make it count.

Personal narrative 2011:      Have enjoyed reading the response points that have been mentioned and the common thread that is apparent. We are indeed fortunate in many degrees when you read the points. Wow.

Look forward to Friday evening and Saturday get together and sharing some stories.
