Q1    What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with modern technology?

I love the ease of using digital cameras.  And the convenience of cell phones.  And using a computer keyboard to type.  Have you tried to use one of those old typewriters we used in typing class lately?  How did we get so fast and accurate with the strength required in our fingers back then?

Love shopping online and keeping up with the family on Facebook.  Online banking is really great when one lives out of town 4 miles.

Q2    What are some of your most memorable experiences?

Many memories have faded a bit but aside from having children and getting married, I do have fond memories of high school - biking or walking all over town.  Up to Lakeside Park, to school, church, and work.

After Steve began work at the soda ash plant in Green River, Wyoming, we were able to take 10 day long backpacking trips in the summer into the Wind River Mountains with the kids to fish.  And I learned to hunt myself and have killed my own moose, elk, deer and antelope.  After we got horses, the hunting trips weren't so hard on our backs.

I designed our log home that we built together and we both learned a lot by doing.  I learned how to not look down when on the top of scaffolding in order to help do some of the high up stuff.

Although we have sold our cows now, I still love calving season and watching my mama cows and the new babies romping around the field.  Watching grass hay grow just isn't as much fun as that was.

I love living where there is so much open country around us and watching all the birds and wildlife we have.

Q3    What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?

I have a big garden and a greenhouse for tender crops like peppers and tomatoes.  A big help when our summers are so short.

I knit and crochet a lot and have been working on family history which is so easy to share with computers.

We usually only get away for visits to family when we don't have to irrigate and water in summer or feed horses in winter.

Q4    What are some of the major changes in your life?

We have two children - a boy and a girl - both married.  Our son's marriage gave us two step grandsons and their families which have grown to include eight great-grandkids.  And we don't see them all nearly as much as I'd like.  We had our 50th wedding anniversary last August 30th and we're working on the next 50.  Think of all the changes to come!

Personal narrative 2011       Hope you all enjoy the 50th class reunion.  Family and friends will be here for the big annual elk hunt at that time, so will miss it.
