Q1    What are some of your positive and some of your negative experiences with modern technology?

Email is amazing as is the internet.  Past this I value face-to-face, the phone, a card or letter in the mail.  Cell phone... if I can't figure it out, it would help to read the instructions!  Microwave is a staple!

Q2    What are some of your most memorable experiences?

LHS memories are still unique... teachers, friends, classmates, parents.

Sally invited me home from school.  In 4th grade Sally is cooking.  We were to bake a double layer chocolate cake for dinner.  What came out was one layer!  Sally's mom wanted to know what happened.  We ate the dough!

Lincoln.  Miss Taylor, 6th grade teacher and principal. Looking over the top of her glasses terrified us; years later we embraced this dear lady!

In grade school my grandparents moved to Albuquerque when my grandfather (expertise in welding) was hired by American Car & Foundry (government contractor for the A-bomb).  Summer visits explored many Indian ruins.

How can we forget our beloved Walt Clark!  He propelled us into winning Rag Day queen each year except for freshman.  Do I remember we lost ticket sales that year by 12 tickets?

Rag Day began with my mother's (and Darla's mother's) high school class.  They went thru the depression wearing the same old clothes.  To break the monotony, their class decided they would wear rags to school one day.  They were all sent home to change clothes but a tradition began that lasted until they built the new high school!

Mrs. Meskimen (home economics) ushered me into FHA.  On FHA'S rotation of state officers, I successfully competed for state VP.  I was dumbfounded to learn this meant I would go by train to the national convention in Chicago.

Rainbow Girls and Jobs Daughters.  Formals and big hoops.  Cruising up and down Lincoln to see who's out.  Who can forget Workman's!

Upon graduation several of us went to Parks School of Business/Denver.

Career:  I began and ended my career in Corporate America.  General Electric (20 years) and U.S. Bank (10 years).  In between I worked in small business with individuals who followed their dreams & created specialized businesses in electronics, investments, and law.

I retired June 1, 2011 from U.S. Bank, 50 years to the day they cut us loose!

Q3    What fun activities/hobbies, etc. do you participate in?

Flower gardening... as close as I will get to a farm (family history).

Air Power West... an organization that restores and flies World War II aircraft.  Beyond my wildest aspirations, I have flown back seat in T6 trainers.  Taking off and landing in tandem is a heart stopper.

Square dancing was introduced to me by my cousin-Connie.  My first dance partner was Dwayne Larson, class 1962.

This sport has had an enormous impact on my life socially and physically.  I have served as president of the Longmont club and the NE Council.  Dance friends combined talents with me to save both groups from shutting down.

Gary Hukill (significant-other) and I belong to dance clubs in Broomfield and Loveland.  We travel to annual state festivals in Gary's RV.  In 2006 we flew to Hawaii to take part in the USA West festival.  In 2009 we joined a national caller and dance friends on an Alaska cruise.

Dave Quinn (passed away 2004) & I traveled early in our marriage.  His dream was to cross over to London and Paris.  We also ventured into the interior of Mexico on several occasions.

In my travels I have realized silent dreams.  Winning U.S. Bank's Pinnacle awards, Gary & I explored Aztec ruins in Mexico.  On Hawaii's big island, we stood yards from an active lava flow.  Nov 2012 I join cousin-Connie on an educational cruise to follow Paul's journeys in the New Testament.

Q4    What are some of the major changes in your life?

July 2010 (stunned) I underwent open heart surgery (successfully repairing my mitral valve). Up to this point I thought I had bypassed my family's heart history.  I had as it turned out.  Specific tests concluded I hit the steering wheel in a 2006 auto accident, breaking some "parachute strings", causing the heart-valve function to break down.

My faith sustains me.  I walk with an amazing God who has pulled me thru intense life issues with a grace that astounds me.  My mission today: pay it forward.

Our 50 years has served us well!  See you in September!
